Hiya Guys

Completed me CCNA just need to complete external exam.
Put on me CV and sent this out to lots of companies but the issue is experience which is causing me to fall short on getting the job.

Any suggestions on what i can do ?
And would anyone recommend me next step courses to expand my knowledge and give me a better standing for a job...am looking into 1st line helpdesk or network engineer that sort of job venture.

Regards

Get _ANY_ job related to IT.

Once your foot is in the door it's easy to work your way up.

You'll soon learn to hate 1st Line Helpdesk, but it should help you focus on what you want to do.

Well i have 20+ years in IT for IT Support companies / Banks / Trading Floors.
And the hardest part is getting your first step in the door...I think you would be bored in 1st line helpdesk role, mostly your just a call logger for the 2nd level guys.

I have found so many guys / girls who have the CNE / MCSE / CCNA grades, yet dont know how the real world works. Maybe try one of the many IT compaines out there, who will be able to put on on a clients site.

PM me if you want a list of a few IT compaines names.

Also where are you based ???

Are you in Milton Keynes, are you willing to relocate? (30mins south of Birmingham)

Have you got a CV? We are potentionally recruiting for a foot-in-the-door Jnr Networks role.

Hey Mr.Stu yeh im in milton keynes and would be willing to relocate.
I have a CV also which i just updated.

Personally I wouldn't take SQL as a first MS exam. As SQL sits on Windows Server I'd be looking at Windows Server 2003/2008 (probably the former as not many places have deployed 2008 yet) first as it'd be a little odd that you are certified in an app sat on an OS but not for the OS itself.

With the CCNA role I would look for a junior network engineer/trainee, because getting the qualifications is great but it's the real world experience that will get you up the scale into a good job with a nice wage.

It's one thing configuring EIGRP & OSPF in a lab, but it's when they go wrong in real world, time sensitive environments that your knowledge and skill is truly put to the test.

If you get in with the right company you may find they put you through your CCNP too.

Also, stay away from first line support would be my best advice.

Defiantly try to keep away from first line support it sounds great until you have heard "the printer wont work" for the 59th time that day! ffs all it takes a to put paper in it!!
