Agreed. When I get home I will talk to my managers, being management there to (though only a shift manager :o) I would hope my opinion would be of enough value to be able to dedicate something. However the managers there just dont care! very much the same as most other Wetherspoons!
 
It sounds like weatherspoons is a pub or bistro of some kind.
Maybe you could make a drink and dedicate it to him and sell it as Joe's Drink or something like that
 
A sign of some kind would also be nice.. Somewhere he used to go a lot etc.Maybe outside or inside Wetherspoons. I know it wont be good but maybe where he was found?

Most of the time it is, and I live in Ashtead, not far from it. Although this sudden increased crime rate is quite scary! Definitely a deterrent to not go out walking to late in the area, although I have a horrible feeling it was probably a racial attack. :(

Back to the OP, sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend, I heard about it not long after it happened, and I was very shocked, especially because it's so close to me.

Its a possibility, I believe that it was either just drunken idiots, or possibly because he is a something to do with the law that there are well, people out there who wont like the law.


And to Zip... Wetherspoons is the McDonalds of the pub world to put it short... just cheap beer, no music, no televisions, full of advertisements, designed to get customers in and out... a lot of the people drinking in there are scum or students... Sadly Joe was neither of these.

The dedicated item wouldn't be respected there then.
Look at my post up the top of this page about bringing him home a souvenir from down here if he asked for one and dedicate it to him
 
Aie, I was told about this the other day too (worked at the same pub, also knew joe) he was a top bloke.

A little update, apparently an 18 year old male has been arrested in connection with this. Hopefully if they've got the right guy then he will be convicted and sent away to rot.

Can only hope so really, its even worse that its someone so young doing something so horrible... but they do deserve everything they get!
 
RIP Joe.

I didnt know him but reading all thats been said about him, its really got to me. I hope you manage to find a fitting way to show your respects to a good friend.
 
When I worked in my pub one of the regulars died and a small plaque was placed on the wall, nothing that jumps out in your face but something that the regulars who knew him could see as they walked in.

This is awful, Epsom has always been abit chav tastic but they have had a large police presense in recent years to try to help it out. Poor guy, RIP
