Completely Wipe HDD

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend any programs that will TRUELY wipe my HDD.
I've downloaded Darik's Boot and Nuke but I've not used it.
Would this do the trick?

Darik's Boot is king
Or you could use any linux distro and issue the shred command.

Just to note - raid arrays need a little more work to be totally safe.

My setup only included one 500GB SATA HDD at the moment, so Darik's should be great.

You cannot "truely" wipe a hd.

Something is always recoverable with the right tools and patience.

is there no option with darik's boot to choose which hdd to wipe out as it says on the website that the program will automatically delete the content on any hdd it detects?

Anytime I've used it I just disconnect the power on any other HDD's just in case but I think what is meant by that statement is providing the software can detect a HDD it can wipe it, but not necessarily all of them

Personally I'd disconnect any that I wanted to keep data on, just in case I picked the wrong one

Screwdriver followed by hammer if you really want to make sure
