gf's computer is crap all i can say i really need some help big style please
got a new HDD for the comp the other day have formatted it and put it in the comp tried to install windows i was the confronted on boot up with BIOS ROM CHECKSUM ERROR was told to reset the bios so looked for maual on the net found it but there was nothing on there for resetting bios so i took the cmos battery out and put it back in again. the pc then booted up and let me start to install windows was then confronted with %spcdname% insert disk in to A: drive dont have a clue what that is looked on the net found out its MS way of saying it needs sata drivers one problem the drive i have isnt a sata drive its an IDE drive
i dont know what to do no more can anyone help me its really important as i need to get it working as her disatation work is on the old drive and i have managed to get it on to disk for her from the old drive just need to get her pc working ASAP so she can finish it
please help me please

I spent the up until 3am on sat and all sun morning trying to figure out why my new build wasnt posting. A bit of patience and calm thinking narrowed it down to the HDD that was most likely to have blown.
