A couple of months ago I posted a thread asking for a spec to be reviewed.
Now I look back at the spec (http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/4098/1v2bih1.gif) and I notice that a fair few items have increased significantly in cost.
For example, you can see that the 4870 is now £20 more expensive, as is the processor (another £20 increase).
Some items, like the main board, have decreased, but only slightly.
What i'm asking is... are the prices going to fall back down to the price before christmas soon, or not? I can understand newer technology being more expensive, but this stock is gradually becoming out-of-date, not increasing in value.

Is it worth waiting until after the holidays?

And before someone mentions the credit crunch, it's really not a valid excuse.

Yes it is. The UK economy is crippled, the GBP is very week. Components such as those you are looking to buy are imported and priced in dollars. The dollar is comparatively strong against the GBP - this you're going to pay more GBP for the same components.

Life sucks.

It's not the credit crunch, it's the weakened £/$ exchange rate.
Most PC components will be purchased in $.
A brief history of exchange rates
September 2008 ~$1.80 = £1
October 2008 ~$1.70 = £1
November 2008 ~$1.55 = £1
December 2008 ~$1.48 = £1

It's not worth waiting. If you need or want something buy it now and don't look at the prices again.

It's the exchange rate, prices will not go down any time soon.

The pound will eventually recover but not in the short term.
