Hey all, havnt built a pc in a very long time. Would all these be good? is the ax860 enough for 2 780 sc cards? anything I could change for the better? I know I could go lower with the board but I really like the board

is there anything im missing except a case?

thanks

Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition
Intel Core i7 4820K
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9
h100i for the cooling
2x evga 780 sc sli
Corsair Professional Series AX860i 860W ATX/EPS Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum

Hmm
The 4820k is not as good as the 4790k firstly - why are you going for Ivy-bridge E?
Also, the Dominator Platinum RAM sticks are quite pricey and better options can be found for cheaper

What's your max budget? Perhaps someone can spec you something up :)
For gaming? I suppose you could drop in a 4930k later on, but they are quite pricey (right now) at the moment

What is this PC to be used for?

Sounds like its for gaming. Also the new haswell-e and X99 are out in a month or so.

All Good components but you can get the same for much less money, depending on your uses.

If this is going to be an out and out gaming build, Haswell is the way to go, the 4820k offers nothing over the 4790k, it actually offers less.

The only reason to go X79 now is negated by the fact X99 is out soon. :)

Ive just ordered all the parts. Just got 2 4k monitors so needed something to run them fine. Keep thinking about waiting but I could wait forever, just in the case of the 4k monitors also.

Not a massive gamer but like to play a game now and then so wanted the capability to run a game on occasion, even if I have to turn a lot down to get them to run at 4k or just use 1080p.

Mainly the new setup is for stock trading and programming.

Maybe overkill for trading/programming but needed a middle ground for the occasional game.

Heres a possible stupid question, ive never put ram in a double ram motherboard. Ive order 2x8gb sticks, can I put them in 1+3 on one side or should I put them in the first slot on both sides?

Thanks

Ideally you should have gone for 4x4GB sticks in a quad channel configuration as that is what X79 supports. I think 1+3 on either side will be fine however with your 2x8GB sticks

Why are you going for X79? For the RAM you might as wel go for some Vengeance Pro 2400MHz sticks, probably around the same price as those platinums.
