compress dvd file software?

I am looking for software to compress dvd file, I bought a hdd camcorder and made a 30 gig movie, would like to put onto a dvd disk, I want something easy and fast, do not need any edit option.

Dont mind paying for the software but free would be nice.

I use the rather spiffy ConvertXtoDVD, it's not free, but it's not expensive.
