Have just used our VCR-DVD machine and I have a DVD with some vob files etc on it, that when put in a dvd player will load the main menu with the video selected. Now I have 2 such DVDs that I want to merge together and ideally compress a bit. I have some software to do the merging, but I'm not sure how to compress the files and then make them a format viewable on a DVD player again?

Any help is appreciated :)

any decent video/dvd editing programs can do this..but how about windows dvd maker? You'll need to convert the movie/video files into a single part format like divx/xvid or something similiar, and then dvd maker will do the rest and can produce pretty acceptable results really quickly...it's part of Win 7 Home Premium and above!

yes they can if you are prepared to cross-convert forwards and back to different formats which is entirely unecessary seeing as dvd shrink takes a dvd source, compresses it and leaves it as a dvd source - takes minutes.

Also cross converting can also cause audio sync issues if you do not know what you are doing.

Giving the OP options...
