Hi,

I bought these compression fittings and tubing, (as overclockers bundle packages)

TFC Compression Fitting G1/4" Thread 1/2" ID/3/4" OD - High Flow

Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing

The tubing fits real tight over the fittings (using boiling water to soften pipe) but the screw part is too wide to fit the pipe making it useless! Its so tight it doesn't leak but am worried over time the pipe will expand and then maybe develop a leak without it being clamped to the fitting. Has anyone had any experiance with this?

Also the thread on the fittings are worringly short. Of the 6 I bought 4 had left over metal thread inside the fitting which was loose but had to be broken off! Not something you would want running around your water cooling system and pump! I only just noticed it in time too!

As to your tubing and fittings. With compression fittings you need to use tubing that is an exact match eg for those fittings you would need to use tubing like this:-

The 7/16" tubing is best used with 1/2" barb fittings like these:-

This provides a good seal but many people will still use a hose clamp or cable tie for piece of mind.

I have never used compression fittings but in your situation I think it sounds like a leak waiting to happen.

I would either buy more tubing to suit your fittings or buy more fittings to suit your tubing.

Why would overclockers sell these fittings in their watercooling bundle packages if they're not compatible? Surely they would test them first.

I asked a guy there and he redirected me to here to solve the problem??

Ocuk do sell 1/2ID (inter diameter) 3/4OD (outer diameter) tube - XSPC and Tygon that can be used with the TFC fittings - it's not there fault you got the wrong stuff.

And the threads are designed to be short as some blocks - (MIPS/Enzotech) require spacers with 'normal' lenght threads. The O-ring does all the work - thread lenght is erelavant for stoping water with G1/4 threads.

BUT - poor quality is always rublish - use RMA/distance selling act to refund/replace goods

The TFC compression fitting are not designed for 7/16ID tube. it says this in the description.
Fitting large bore tube just got easier with the TFC Compression Fittings! 1/4" BSPP (G1/4") Thread to 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Hose Fitting these will Fit all tubing which has a 1/2" ID and 3/4" OD (1/8" Walls).

Just get some new tubeing -

If what your your saying is correct, then all 16 OCUK Extreme water cooling products are being sold with the wrong type of tube.

How could it have been my fault? I simply trusted that by ordering the same combination as what OCUK sold in their bundles I would have a decent enough setup. I'm not an expert, this seemed like a logical solution given the amount of different options.

Ah man, that's too funny. You're right, they do list it as this.

7/16" tubing + 1/2" barbs is excellent. Selling 7/16" tubing with 1/2" compressions just wont work.

edit: ah, nevermind.

My apoligies - I didn't realise it was from a OcUK kit - that's very poor.
RMA the tube for some 1/2 stuff - should be with you tomorrow if you send them a webnote

By the sounds of post #5, I reckon what he's done is use the ocuk kit list as a shopping list to use elsewhere. Maybe OCuk did this deliberately as a trap. Muhahaha, etc. Unless you bought the indvidual bits from ocuk, then you've got a case, why you would do that though I don't know, unless it actuallu works out cheaper. Still a balls up though IMO.

Wrong mate. Its an upgrade my 'Ultima H20' (OCUK model). The original pump keeps cutting out. I decided to upgrade the pump to Swiftech D5 with Primochill Typhoon III 2 in 2 out resevoir + Fluid xp+. I then decided it would be a good idea to upgrade the rad and replace the grubby old pipe too. Yep I should have had it all on 1 order but there you go. I used the OCUK complete kits as a guide.

I've not had much luck with this order as the Primochill Typhoon came cracked and they now have none in! Looking on the web apparently its quite common with these units so I've now ordered a EK SPIN Reservoir EK-Bay - Acetal and the correct 1/2" pipe for the compression fittings. Hopefully I'll get there in a few days... Still stuck with the original dodgy pump at the moment though
