So ..just finished a new build.

I thought I would give compression fittings a go seeing as everyone bangs on about how wonderful they are.

Well, I hate them. Plumbed everything in last night, woke up this morning with ...really sore fingers!!! OMG, why would anyone want to put their delicate digits through this twisty hell when some hot water and slightly smaller tubing over your barbs is so much more finger friendly.

I tried the glove method someone mentioned on here, but I found I just couldn't get a proper grip on them then, especially in awkward places.

I dunno, maybe I just have girly hands or something :(

If you think compressions fittings are bad dont try cable braiding lol. Lost count of the cuts and blisters I have given myself.

It is a personal thing though. I think they look better and I feel safer using them than barbs so some sore fingers are worth it IMO.

Hi, tighting the compresson fitting by hand till it stops, put a bit of one sided sticky foam on each side of the jaws of a pair of pointy nosed pliers and just tighting them a touch more, no sore fingers and no marks on the fitting. ;)

Got to agree compression fittings look far better and just as easy to use.
