CompTIA Security+ (SY0-501) Self study recommendations

Almost certainly due to the USA parent company, infinite wisdom has decided every person in IT needs to complete this qualification and pass.
They wil pay for the course and exam - but I'm going to get a bit of a headstart, get to the point where I know most of it all before the course and just "get this done".

Anyone else completed this qualification (or the previous version I guess)? Any recommendations on self-study guides for this?
