I've been looking into distance learning for a while, As I'm in full-time work, And find it hard to find courses such as CCNA that run on weekends.

I had Computeach at my house last night, Asking me for nearly £5650 to put me through IC3 > COMPTIA A+ > CompTIA Networking+ and CCNA.

Now I told him, I just wanted CCNA, but he said it came as a package, And the best he could do, was take CompTIA Networking+ out of the package and offer me it at £4750.

Now as a person, The sales man was nice, but I'm sorry, The things he said to me made him out to be a blatant liar, Who is obviously used to talking to people without any prior computer knowledge. Talking about how England have had computers for 160 years, We've been developing the internet since Victorian times! And he also let us know that he could be a millionaire if he wanted to be he just didn't want to follow that path in life yet.

He was also kinda racist! Going on about how black people make up 98% of all crime in Britain, He was quite adamant about that being statistical fact and not just speculation. He also told us, Him and some friends bought an old dinted Nova, and used to go around the streets ramming young boy racers, in order to stop them speeding and causing accidents. He says their actions were condoned by the Nottingham police force too, and 2 people in the car were actually part of the Nottingham police force (all hush hush of course)

back on topic of Computeach and computers, Apparently, Computeach are the ones who developed the CCNA program, and the new MCSA. They made Microsoft re-develop their training material, and then Computeach retrained Microsoft Tutors in the new course material.

He also told us, That Bill Gates was forced to resign as head of Microsoft ( to be honest, I don't remember why exactly, because I'd started the phase quite a lot of the bull leaving this guys mouth ) He said it was very hush hush again, and only the MS leaders really knew about this. He is now apparently working for MS as Director in name only.

Anyway, This is just a summary of the things I was told last night. I heard lots more. Most of which again was bull. How can a Sales person, for a company as large as Computeach get away with this sort of thing, He was more or less blaggin me out of £5000, With lots of blatant lies and dodgy statistic.

I will definitely not be even looking at going with Computeach, because they seem very untrustworthy, I know the acts of 1 salesman can't reflect a business, But after he left, I had a look on the internet at various review sites, and it seems that the majority of people see them as a scam. Very worrying considering i probably only saw through his lies because I know a lot about the world and technology. My girlfriend who was sat with me throughout the meeting, was ready to sign away £5000. It's quite scary.

I'm hoping to find a CCNA course that works evenings as weekend aren't good either, either that or I do them individually and take annual leave. In all honesty I've never considered Computeach or any other TV advertised company as they all make blatantly false claims about how much you can earn, that's not a good start.

Sounds like he works on commission and is going to say anything to get a sale, report him to head office if you have his details.

I hate Computeach, the adverts really get on my wick!

"Bill used to be a market trader but now 12 months on he earns £38k in I.T" yeah right sure he does, more likely he earns 11k building tat for the purple shirts.

Computeach, blast from the past!

Are they still at Gypsy lane in Midlands.

Tell them to **** ***, simple as that. The APR on the course are some of the highest out there. Did he offer (if they still do) a Career Development Loan through something like the Co-Op?

Seriously, I don't like "telling" people what to do, but you'd be wise to simply say No.

you don't need a 5k course, just get some study materials from http://www.trainsignal.com or http://www.cbtnuggets.com/ and some self discipline to do it yourself at home.

I think the CCNA is elevated well above its status, it is essentially a high/entry level look at networking.

I also hate computeach, i'd like them to get me the average 38k a year and a company car I'm supposed to have.

I've had a bloke from Computeach come round to the house a few years ago. I was blissfully unaware of their sales tactics, and was pretty shocked at his sales techniques. At the end of the day, they're almost bullying and insisting the customer into buying something, while trying to blind you with science.

Needless to say, I did not enroll on Computeach's course.

Talking about how England have had computers for 160 years, We've been developing the internet since Victorian times! And he also let us know that he could be a millionaire if he wanted to be he just didn't want to follow that path in life yet.

LOL! I would love to challenge him on these....

Yes, the internet was mainly coal furnaces and data was transmitted via steam down copper pipes....

Technically, he's sort of right on the first one. Charles Babbage's Difference Engine, widely regarded as the first "computer" was built in the early 19th century.

I guess he's referring to the transatlantic telegraph cable between Britain and America as "developing the internet", which would be wrong to say the least

the A+ and N+ all you need to do is buy mike meyers books and then pay for the exam. with the CCNA though its a bit mroe hands on so you'll be best if you go to college or do the distance learning as you'll get to log into the cisco academy.

MW

Computeach:eek: nooooooo

Im doing CCNA at college 1 night a week on a 2 year course, £350 for each year. Semester1+2 then semester 3+4, although Cisco have just changed the whole course

I would say pulling out books and doing it yourself is still a lot better than going to them...

The adverts always make me laugh.

"12 months ago I was stuck in a dead end job with poor pay. Now I'm designing computer games and earning £30,000 a year"

LMAO!

That Bill Gates was forced to resign as head of Microsoft ( to be honest, I don't remember why exactly, because I'd started the phase quite a lot of the bull leaving this guys mouth ) He said it was very hush hush again, and only the MS leaders really knew about this. This is partly true, it was widely reported last year that Bill Gates plans to step down as head of Microsoft by the middle (or end of) 2008.

He wants less to do with the company, and to take up a less active role. Ray Ozzie is taking over as head of software and Bill will help him get more comfortable in the role, and I think it was Craig Mundy who will deal with research and main guy for creative ideas.

Bill Gates will remain chairman, but have a significantly less active role in day to day runnings of the company.

It's not very hush hush, and was all over the news last year (well I say all over... it depends what type of news you read :p All over tech. news anyway)

hehe, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who see's Computeach as a joke at least.

I'm interested now in putting myself through the course, I have the cisco CBTnuggets already, I bought them a while ago. And I also have the semester 1 and 2 book. 3 and 4 is separate, but I'll also buy that.

My question is though, Once i feel confident enough, How would I go about getting official certification? Can anyone help in that aspect?
