computer acting strange...

i have an i7 920 @ GHz. 12 gb mem and using w8.
all was fine untill recently, i have trouble using convertxtodvd error messages, then shell.exe or something when trying to use media player. just feels unresponsive at times.
it is overclocked, does it sound like a bad overclock or is my w8 installation starting to get corrupt?

first thing i would do is uninstall media player and put it back on again. rule out software application first.

sounds like a software issue open task manager and leave it in the background when its sluggish see how much is in use and which process is using it all. Often things like mcaffe will eat more than their fair share of resorces as a result of a corruption somewhere along the way.
