I need to use wifi for my computer because is it upstairs in my room, Ethernet is out of the question. So do I need to get a network card thing in order to connect via wifi? I thought the motherboard would have one built in...

Ethernet is not totally out of the question...

YOUR BASKET
1 x TP-Link AV200 200Mbps Mini Powerline Starter Kit Ver:3.0 (TL-PA211KIT) £29.99
Total : £35.96 (includes shipping : £4.98).

You plug an ethernet cable from your router into one of these plugs, plug the plug in to the wall electricity socket. Plug another one in by your PC and an ethernet cable between your PC and the plug and you'll be sorted!

I'd go for homeplugs (as suggested above) too - it's more stable than WiFi for the most part and can be faster depending on your home layout. If your PC is a long way from your WiFi router or there are a number of walls in the way, particularly.

Although you may want to shop around a little - it's one of the few things OcUK aren't overly competitive on.
