ok i was playing oblivion the other nite with below comp (see sig) and then i had some probs and now it wont work...

detailed account of what happened..

-playing oblivion, everything running fine
-intellipoint causing game to freeze for a min or so then commin back norm
-i restarted the computer
-on post it wouldnt go past the raid health screen
-computer wouldnt shut down
-hit the power button to turn off and left for 5 mins
-turned it back on and got 2 short beeps then all power went dead
- changed psu cable and got power but not posting or any signal on screen

the sound card has a red lightning light now lit up on the side and the power when it kicks in seems like normal, then the fans tend to kick in a little bit more..also once when i tried it i got a loud screech noise but this only happened once.

now im thinking its the hdd has gone maybe but im really not sure...any ideas guys?? its really annoying coz i look after my computer really well :(

Do you know what bios it is, as in award or ami. http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html

From what you said about 2 beeps it seems it may be an ami in which case from the error code suggests problems with the memory. Have you tried it with one stick and then swapping the sticks to see if it boots, try to eliminate that i suggest.

yup,u know thinking about it i cant think what bios it is offhand :( it did the 2 shorts beeps the first time but i now dont even get bios loading up..tried the ram aswell yea

Im guessing youve tried all the usuals, reseating the cpu, gfx card(since you have sli maybe taking one of the cards out).

Thats one serious rig your running there, worries me when things like this happen to practically new builds. I would have said myself it was a memory error buy you've tried that...

Have you tried taking one of those 8800GTX's out? That would then eliminate power shortage.

I presume where you say you've reset the CPU you mean you've taken the BIOS battery out and put it back in?
