I have a sony pcg-fx701 laptop

With the battery inserted with power from mains it flashes amber on the battery icon and the pc power light is green but the battery light remains flashing green.
There are NO visuals at all! when the pc is powered on. No bios no windows no nothing.

I have plugged another monitor into the laptop in hope that it could be a faulty screen but still i have nothing.

i removed the battery from laptop which stopped the flashing amber light for the battery and still it comes up with no visuals. What could be the reason for this? please help!

i've also tried switching screens using the function button and f7 and f8:(
Also not the brightness as i've tried that.

Could be either your ram or graphics, had a few machines at work today with the same problem.

but its a laptop! Why would the ram now be faulty the guy has had it for a while me thinks.

Am i right in saying i'd have to rule out faulty power adaptor as the same thing happens when you boot the machine up with or without the power adaptor (remember the fault: amber light flashes on the battery icon and no visuals at all!)

If it was a faulty hard disk then it'd boot up into bios right and you'd see it.
