Right guys, just help me with my diagnosis of this problem before i possibly buy the wrong replacement parts.
Was on the computer last night, and it just hung, then when i came to reboot it, it would just spin the fans and HDD's then shut down, no beeps nothing.

I take the CPU out (AM2 3800 X2), and it will stay powered on, obviously not doing anything though.
Replace the CPU and Mobo and then have to arse around reinstalling windows as well?
Or just the CPU?
I dont have any way of obtaining a CPU to test whether that is the fault or not before buying a new one.

I hate repair jobs like that. In the experiences I've had, It's been the RAM, the PSU, the motherboard or the CPU. The only real way to diagnose is to swap bits out and if you don't have access to spares then it's a tough call on what to replace first.

Bring it round mine and we'll swap some bits out. ;)

Sounds like a power issue, but yeah strip it to bare minimum and try everything. See if you have a friend with a similar format to swap/replace bits to find problems, cheaper than buying unneeded fixes!

Also whats your PC spec? Ram/GFX/PSU?

Asus 570 sli mobo
geil value 667 ddr 2.
and a 570watt psu (I know its not that)
I am leaning towards the cpu, it was showing all kinds of strange usage yesterday on the cpu monitor, I'm thinking its just borked.
