Can I please have some advice on my build before purchasing.
The main question I have is.. does it all run together? Is this a good enough graphics card for the rest of the build or should I go for something of higher performance? And is it worth paying a little more for water cooling? I'm not sure if I will overclock, simply because I'm not very familiar with the process and I've been told to stay away for that reason.. maybe I'm silly to listen to that advice..

Here is the build listed below :

Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I74790K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard.
MSI R9 390 GAMING 8G Radeon R9 390 8GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case with Side Window and 4 Quiet Fans for PC - White/Black

EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR 80 PLUS GOLD 850 W 10 yr Warranty ECO Mode Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support

TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED316G2400HC11CDC01)

Crucial BX100 CT250BX100SSD1 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gbps (SATA III) Micron 16nm MLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

As for graphics
MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming Edition 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
or
MSI Radeon R9 390X Gaming Edition 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Many thanks,

That looks fine. I would stick an aftermarket cooler in there though, as it will run quieter than the stock Intel one. You don't need to spend extra on watercooling.

The R9 390 is a good card. It is about the same as a GTX 970 (maybe slightly better depending on the game).

YOUR BASKET
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £35.96 (includes shipping : £4.98 Ex.VAT).

Thank you for your replies.

Is this cooler good?

How does it compare with the one you have suggested above. I don't want to over complicate things as this is my first build... I will stay away from water cooler for that reason alone.. if there is a better cooler (non-water) you recommend then please go ahead.

As for the mobo the Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard is better than the suggested above isn't it?

In terms of performance, how will the R9 390 compare with the R9 390X? It is £100 more and its hard to justify going for the R9 390X if its not going to be that much superior to the R9 390.

Both below are R9 390.. what are the differences? If any?

Appreciate all the help.

That cooler is good as well. I don't know how it compares as I haven't seen any reviews. It has the same amount of heatpipes and the same sized fan so it will be similar in performance.

If the Gaming 7 or Black edition bundles work out cheaper then go with one of those.

I don't think the 390X is worth the extra over the 390.

I would go with Gigabyte although I am somewhat biased towards the brand. They have good UK warranty support.

I am not too sure if MSI have UK support for their gpu's.

The H110i stocks at around £100-£110 so a big difference in comparison with the 1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99

I'm not really familiar with what I will require for my build, but if the Alpenföhn Matterhorn is good enough then I don't see a reason to put out over £100 for another. Can it make a big enough difference? I have also been advised that if i am not going to overclock then I can use the standard cooler than comes included with the i7 CPU.

As for the graphics card, I will go with the Gigabyte branded model. Is this the one?

Is the ASUS much better? How does it compare? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-374-AS

I don't know if I can do so here but I would like to bump just because of my urgency to purchase. One product is low on stock and I would like to purchase all together.

How does the ASUS R9 390 compare with the Gigabyte R9 390?

They will all perform about the same. You might get the odd 1 or 2 fps difference between models but nothing drastic. I would take the Gigabyte over the Asus. The one you linked above is the right Gigabyte card.

As for the cpu cooler then the stock one will be fine if you don't plan on overclocking. It will be a bit louder/hotter than an aftermarket one but it will work ok. You definitely don't need to spend £100+ on a H110i.
