Hi guys, attempted to put together a computer for the first time last night. Everything seemed to go well and I was extremely careful with each individual component and made sure they were all fitted in the right places etc. Came to booting it up and there's no display output at all. Tried onboard and GPU outputs. Tried stripping components to bare essentials. Tried switching monitors. Nothing works. All the fans are working, mobo lights are on e.t.c

What could it be? Also, the PSU is more than adequate for the components that I have.

I had this issues yesterday with my build. Simple mistake, I didnt turn on the PCI-E graphics from within the BIOS it was still set to default which does exactly what you are describing !

Try it !

Will be able to get photographs later. Building a wall in the garden at the moment :P

I believe that all the mobo stand offs are fitted correctly, even drew a diagram to make sure that they were all in the right place.

How do you turn on the pci-e graphics from within the BIOS? I can't access the BIOS because there's no signal to the monitor.

Cheers for your help

Take out the graphics card, and it will default to the buit in GPU.

Have you provided power to the GFX card if it needs it?

Have you got the extra 4/8pin ATX plugged in near the CPU socket?

Try a clearCMOS.

I bought the Corsair 430w 80 plus PSU which doesnt have the 4pin ATX power connector for the plug near the CPU. It does have the 24 which is plugged in to the MOBO.. Is the 4/8 pin ATX essential?

should like like this

the MOBO has a 4pin slot next to the CPU. No obvious 4 pin connector coming from my PSU, although there is one with more pins. So your saying attach the one with more than 4 pins to the 4 pin socket?

I believe it does have 4/8 pin ATX cable.

Corsair CX430

24-pin ATX connector (600mm) = 1
4+4-pin ATX12V/EPS12V (600mm) = 1
6+2 PCIe (600mm) = 1
SATA (2 cables w/ 2 connectors each) (400mm+150mm) = 4
5.25" Peripheral Power Connector (1 cable w/ 3 connectors each) (400mm+150mm+150mm+150mm) = 3
3.5" Drive power adapter (+150mm) = 1

pics of the PSU cable?
80 Plus - ATX Connector 1 EPS connector 1 PCI-E connector 1 4 Pin Peripheral Connector 3 SATA Connector 4 Floppy Connector 2
EPS is the one you are looking for :)
