Computer build problem. Please help!

Yep, all the hardware seems to be working fine now and my computer posts with a single beep when I turn it on. Thanks for the help on that.

However this isn't it. Started installing Windows XP last night and during the install I got a BSOD with the message

Irql_Not_Less_or_Equal

I've researched this and its apparently something to do with incompatible hardware and drivers.

Does anyone know anything about this bsod, and if so way of avoiding it and installing Windows?

tried clearing CMOS. No joy. Part of me feels like its the old Windows XP copy not compatible with current hardware.. could this be true? Another copy of Windows is the last option I really want to get to. Anything that can be done in the BIOS that might resolve it?

not that I'm aware of. The only options were to format the HDD/create partitions. Then install it. Could there be an option in the BIOS for IDE or AHCI?

The installation basically gets to the 'Installing devices' screen then gives me the BSOD.

have you gone through all the storage options in the bios, there should be this option because of installing an OS on an SSD, AHCI gives better performance?

What type of drive are you installing xp on?

ok thanks footman. Which should I try and install it as? IDE or AHCI?

The BIOS is UEFI. Should there be an option in it to simply change?
