computer cleaning

Decided im going clean my computer properly soon, i usually blow the dust out with a can of compressed air but whats the best way to get all the dirt off the fans? Unscrew them and wipe it with a wet cloth?

But doesnt a hoover cause lots of static. Tried using a hoover on my old pc and it never worked again lol.
