computer courses

Hi all,
im thinking of maybe getting into computing a lot more than i am, maybe do a course and learn about them properly rather than the everyday to day learning ive done.

is there any sort of course i should be looking at?
maybe go to uni
not sure excact what area of computing but do need to learn a lot more on how programs work and why pc's do strange things lol

well im thinking if could make a career in it haha but for now just hobby,
i have so many friends asking to fix and sort there pc's i figure why not try .
mainly thinking program and software, hardware not so much of a problem.
