Hmm.. definately a few good suggestions as to what might be going on!
I built this computer in September last year so its all 10months old now.
Ill spend time with it this weekend run through every suggestion that has been made to see if it sorts or pinpoints the problem. It seems certain that it is the graphics card but I will put it to the test, and post up over the course of the weekend the results.
Ok its Friday 13th and I decided to start by defragging & running a security scan on the computer no problems found. I ventured into the computer and took it upon myself to clean out all the fans + components which has inevitably landed me in wiring up the computer again. Although the computer will only continue to stay on for more than 1 second if the optical, HDD & Graphics Card are not connected up! Does anyone know why this is?
The recommended spec is just to cover themselves, your system will be drawing no where near 450w everything included (screen too). Quality over quantity where PSUs are concerned and certainly a 500w unit is plenty. I'm no expert in PSUs by any means, and I'm sure there a few people here with their preferences (OCUK are out of stock on a few I'd consider as well) but you could do worse than one of these
The whole shutting off after 1 second with everything hooked up sounds like a PSU problem. Probably be an idea to strip the PC down and carefully rebuild it before ordering, in case there is a simple problem like a short or cable not fully plugged in
Ok I have completely rebuilt the PC, although now I cant get a display. Everything is plugged in, all fans work, CPU, everything; including the Graphics card itself! Any Ideas?
Bridge the clear CMOS jumper on your motherboard, or remove the power cable and pop the CMOS battery out and hold down the power button for a few seconds works too. Refer to page 5, 13 and 15 of your manual if unsure
