Computer crashing, help figuring out what component?

To cut a long story short, I've currently got an R9 290X (stock Sapphire cooler, which does run a bit hot and loud). The issue is, after 30 minutes or so of intense gaming like Witcher 3, the screen will go black. Sometimes the sound and that stays on, the rest of the computer parts stay on, fans etc.

The end result is that I've had to force power off my system. After giving it the once over i've powered it on as normal and I'm currently idling with a load of temperature monitors running.

Temperatures at the minute are hovering around 50c (bearing in mind i've done a few hours of gaming, which has since stopped with the aforementioned crash)

Rest of the system :

i5 2500k, stock clocks and stock cooler
Sapphire R9 290X Battlefield 4 edition with stock cooler
8GB Patriot Viper 1600Mhz RAM
700watt OCZ "ModXStream" PSU
Generic monitor that's recently started having a bit of flicker at the bottom (did wonder if this was to blame, or all of the above)

Any experts want to help me weed out the issue?

How old is the PSU? Got another one to test with?

Would help if you can try another monitor as well.

Pretty sure it's from early 2012 so it's getting on a bit there. Haven't got a spare PSU to test it.

As for monitors, got a spare going. Is it worth plugging it in via DVI-D and using it as a second monitor and then replicating a crash?

Did this issue start after you got a 290x?

It's definitely worth trying another monitor, so we can clear or determine it of fault.

Also what are temperatures under load? You really don't want to be using a stock cooler :p
