Computer Desks. What do you use

Even hex bolts are pretty easy to round off, especially with the cheap soft metal they use in a lot of furniture fixings. Torx are much better, or just a decent posidrive head and decent driver. Annoys me the amount of people that use a philips driver on a posi head and wonder why they have issues!

these screws don't have the 4 lines they are philips just really crap.
maybe it's because the metal is about as soft as the ikea lead allen keys

I have a big ass Cooler Master HUF 922 case. I don't want it sitting on the floor. I would rather not have to build a desk for it and wondered what others with equally big or bigger cases use?

Not sure how it compares size wise but for my Chieftec Dragon, I use an Ikea Goliat desk (link to pic here) with the shelves removed on the left hand bit so it sits in there.

Only downside is when I want to fiddle about inside it is very cramped as you can't turn the case much without taking it out of the gap completely.

I bought the 2m Ikea desk top,3 legs and a cubby hole legs to put the PC tower in

Everyone - myself included - seems to pick a slightly revised version of this set up to meet their needs. I find it very effective, but my computer is under it, with a rather large subwoofer at the other side.

I went against my instincts and bought an IKEA Galant desk. It fits well and it easy to set up with some decent adjustments for height which is useful. However the top has a very thin veneer that is very easy to mark and in 6 months I have managed to add several big scratches. Like all IKEA stuff it's cheap for a reason but if you go a bit careful it does the job and is good for extending. I bought a curved corner desk and then an extension.

Ive since removed the TV, added a 2nd 27" screen and a new Dell colour Laser and it all fits nicely and still gives me space to write. Oh year the 15" Pro has been replaced with a 13" too. PC is under the desk as I bought one of those MASSIVE 800D things which is far too big.

Just a though on the resonance. If it is resonance, it means the panel is vibrating. My desk doesn't do it, but there are no wide unbraced spans.

Have you considered trying some sound deadening? Hollow desks will suffer worse from resonance than solid sheets (less dense) but sound deadening is good at reducing panel resonance. Widely used in car audio.

Like others have said, the Galant series from Ikea is great. Plus if you ever need more space you can buy an extension.

T-Legs are sturdy (plus adjustable height) and I've had no problems with it wobbling like someone mentioned. PC sits underneath with about a foot of room between it and the desk.

I got the desk from Costco 120cm x 72cm x 60cm solid and gives me plenty of space. Only issue base unit is now on the wooden floor and making quite a bit noise. Got a draper noise cancelling mat and some noise dampening feet to hopefully resolve this.

It looks like the Galant has been discontinued because none of the combinations are available in any IKEA store :(

This really sucks because I just moved house and I really wanted a 120cm x 80cm desk with the T-legs.

Check the bay out, you normally get people selling proper office desks that they have picked up from call centres and the likes in bulk.

I got an awesome L shaped desk, cabinet, all fitted and delivered for £65. Absolute bargain.

I got a 2m solid oak kitchen worktop from eBay for 60 quid. I then mounted on on battens fixed to the wall and an Ikea chest.

Some bloke's kitchen installer had cut the worktop too short. It's 720mm deep, as opposed to the Ikea worktops which, iirc, are 600mm? This isn't deep enough for a pc desk imo.
