***I meant to put HDMI not DVI***

Hi, I've got myself a nice Panasonic TV over the Christmas period which supports 720p. I thought I would plug it into my 8800GTX and watch movies on it, but when trying found that it only supported 1280x1024.
If I were to buy a GFX card that had a HDMI output and plug it straight into the TV would it support a resolution of 720 or still only the 4:3 res of 1280x1024?

Just tried a DVI to HDMI converter and it didn't seem to work. When I set it to 720 it worked as if the screen could only support 640x480 and as I moved the mouse around th visible part of the screen moved (most of the output wasn't visible on the screen at one time).

I was wondering if true HDMI to HDMI (not from DVI) would solve this?
