I noticed that there aren't many of these types of shows in the uk either that or i'm not looking hard enough for them. I know in america they have a few but i'm obviously not giong to travel all the way to america for the sake of a show and then buy somethings that i probably wouldn't couldn't bring back with me anyway!

So does anyone know of any good shows coming up or any that will be happening next year? I noticed Game will be hosting Gamefest this year at the NEC in birmingham but that's just for games... more interested in PC hardware and technology.

most local leisure centres have them on a weekend every month or two

I've been and they're a waste of time. Everything more expensive than on the internet and not enough choice

Only of any use if you're into case modding and want to pick up cheap supplies that you would otherwise have to pay postage for.(like fan screws or cold cathodes etc..)

Sounds pretty pointless then, nothing like the american ones where it's hosted by big companies and have Nvidia and ATi alikes selling new products then? I'm kinda after the big thing here lol.

never seen anything like that

The computer fairs here are usually market stall holders or people who run small local computer shops.

Much better chance of doing business on a sunday at one of these fairs than in your closed market stall or shop in a quiet city centre.

Sigh and theres me hoping for a big event sometime soon at the NEC or even at the 02 arena in london! Shame really as i know a lot of people would probably turn up to look at new tech and get a first hands on with new hardware and software.

Computers aren't big business here anymore.

Its why lots of our small computer retailers have gone bust. Your average punter now just buy a laptop cheap from the internet or one of the supermarkets.

The market for specialised home built rigs is very small now :/ especially with companies like HP buying up companies like Voodoo.

It's such a shame, for us enthusiasts we would love to see more conventions and exhibitions being held in the UK but like you said if the market is too small it would just be a waste of time and effort for the organisers. I suspect america and other bigger countries can do these shows because well they're bigger with a bigger population therefore more enthusiasts to buy and visit these shows.

Ha i actually miss the days where i could walk into a big computer store and buy components instead of looking at a picture and doing guess work and reading reviews...

Are you after some hands on new/upcoming tech or to just simply buy stuff from a market type place? If the first then something like the Gadget Show live is good at the NEC, if the latter, don't think they've existed much for at least ten years?

Something like the new gadget show but with the ability to buy tech and to try tech. Market places i've been to but haven't for umm say 5 years? Hasn't the gadget show already passed?

This show is pretty much what i've been looking for!!! The Hardware section sounds very interesting ;).

Cheers Ed!
