desktop parkard bell pentium 4 system..

was working fine..

no when i switch on fan springs into life but the little blue light flashes on and off and nothing posts..

is this a sign of power supply fault or hard drive..

thank you

its not a hdd issue, if it was then you would still see the bios on the monitor when you turned on the pc.

Its either motherboard, psu, ram or cpu.

Bios post errors are the first step in discovering which is at fault.

Do you hear any beeps?
They communicate a bios post error code which is useful for diagnosis.

Other diagnostic tasks such as measuring psu output with a multi meter and swapping ram sticks are useful but require some kit which you may not have

MAXIBOY,

In order of probability

  1. PSU Failure
  2. GPU Failure
  3. Memory Failure
When a PSU croaks it doesn't always go bang, sometimes it becomes "undead" where it still powers up fans and stuff but can't boot the PC . . . . If a GPU fails it can cause the PC not to boot, same for memory . . . .
