Dear all,

I need to get a computer which will run fs9 or fsx (Prefer fsx) Locked at 30FPS with loads of scenery and loads of aircraft (Will buy payware when i get the money), But i am having no luck. I want to spend no more than £500 but have found this computer:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140378469240&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Please allow me to keep the link as it would be a really big help to me and others to see what computer i am talking about!!!! This will be the only time i use a link!!!!

With that computer in mind, Please could you answer the following questions:
1. Will it run fs9/fsx smootly?
2. How many FPS will i be getting with loads of Payware add-ons?
3. Is it a good price?

Thanks
Dale Johnson

The fact that its listing the processor speed as 11,200 mhz is an instant no for me. (4x2.8ghz).

As Vinni3 says, I'd recommend posting a 'spec me' thread in the General Hardware forum. :)

Definately one for the "spec me a 500 rig" in the general hardware forum. As everyone knows fsx was developed with old coding essentially meaning its largely CPU dependent. I built a general purpose, gaming rig with particular focus on fsx about 7 months ago

Definately one for the "spec me a 500 rig" in the general hardware forum. As everyone knows fsx was developed with old coding essentially meaning its largely CPU dependent. I built a general purpose, gaming rig with particular focus on fsx about 7 months ago, see my sig. the key in my opinion was overclocking the CPU. even tho I was using i7 920 I noticed a big improvement when overclocked to 3.6. this was my first ever build from scratch and overclock. in terms of graphics card, if you are only going to be playing fsx then I'd recommend a gtx 260, although you could get away with using a 9800 gtx. ATI cards were generally known to perform less well than NVIDIA but I suspect the 4890, or newer 5770 and above will be good also (needs verification). Addons generally do hit performance, esp terrain and airports. DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH, and please don't focus on fps, but on if you can play smoothly or not. ps...there are a number, but one very comprehensive fsx performance tweak documents on the web which improved my fsx. just google it.

Any chance on a link to that fsx performance guide? Seems to be loads online, just wanting to know which is the best to go for!
