No idea why this system is doing it but it seems to be playing up again after just replacing the Motherboard Battery only last year.

When the system is powered off, unplugged at wall it completely forgets it's Bios settings, yet if you restart the system still plugged in with power it doesn't. It's proving to be annoying as this is my Sisters computer and she uses it after school.

I didn't build this one someone else did

EDIT : Could it be the battery again?

could be cold boot bug? does it flash up with error press f1 to enter setup? you can then go in bios and save/exit and it should still keep all ocing settings

what board is it?

Nope no error, it powers up, instantly powers off. Restarts, Bios settings gone

Unsure as to what board as I haven't checked for awhile, looks to be a Gigabyte running an i3 Cpu. Very cheap board

p55? or h55 or newer?

be sure your on latest bios, seems like cold boot to me its starting up and trying to apply the oc then restarts to default settings

could be drained cmos battery but I don't see how so soon

cold boots are usually bios/memory setting related, might need touch more qpi voltage to cure it

Latest bios, System Defaults, Voltages Set correctly including CPU. Doesn't even say overclocking has failed, just resets the BIOS and Clock/Time if unplugged at all.

I'll look into another CMOS Battery as they are cheap and report back. Perhaps it's a cheap branded one from china :p

yh could be,makesure its making good contact, scratch the surface of the battery with some mild sandpaper if you have any
