Anyone help me with diagnosing the reason why my computer keeps on freezing please.

Ever since I built this computer 3 months ago every coupe of days it will freeze (not blue screen) it doesn't matter whether I'm playing games or just sitting on the desktop.

4.5 Ghz I5 6600k
Asus Maximus Ranger Z170 Motherboard
16 gb Corsair LPx DDR4
MSI GTX 970
With Windows 7 OS

Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

What are your temps like?
Anything in the event log?

If it's equally likely to happen in game or on the desktop, I'd be suspecting the CPU overclock or memory, which might be solvable with a small increase in voltage if the temps are sane.

No tbh, the temps are great and these problems were happening before I had overclocked the CPU (only clocked it 2 days ago) I idle at 20-25 degrees and it never goes above 70 degrees using prime. The 6600k is cooled by a H115i.

It just happened again on desktop, that's twice today and as a side note I've ran MemOK or whatever it is (ran it 2 months ago) to see if it was the memory and it was fine.

I don't know if it's relevant but while it was frozen the Q-Code LED changed to 04 which is PCH initialisation before microcode loading. To get the computer to restart the only thing that will work is holding down the power button.
