Hey everyone

Every now and then, when I'm using my computer, it all seems fine and then randomly just freezes, doesnt slow down or anythin it just stops. Anyone any ideas why??

Im thinking it could be the power supply OR the graphics/CPU just skipping an instruction or something, but i could be completely wrong.

Any ideas would be good

Try running mem-test to check your memory for any errors.
Run Prime 95 or Orthos to check for stability.
Are you overclocking or at stock, also post your specs.

when you say freezes does it pause and then go again or do you need to restart it at that moment ?

what ram do you have ? if you have say 800mhz ram (pc6400) and have set it to run at 800 have you also increased tthe ram voltage to match ?

Specs and OS would help. Does it recover after the freeze or do you have to hard reset?

What sort of things are you doing when this occurs? Playing a game or simply browsing the web? Have you got the latest drivers installed and your OS updated?

Exact same thing used to happen on my old AMD rig. Turned out the PSU wasn't up to the job. Got a new one and it never froze again.

Im on windows XP i have 2GB of Ram, its and AMD 64bit processor i think 3.2 GHz, Ill run those tests as soon as I can.

It freezes and doesnt recover, i have to restart the machine to use it again

The PSU is an Akasa one, cant remember te wattage, ill check when im nxt at home 2moro.

Cheers for the replies guys

hmmm have you overclocked you cpu or is that 3.2ghz its rated speed. if you have over clocked it check your ram settings as it may have overclockedyou ram also wich is crashing.

i reckon its some kind of ram issue.
