Hi, i come here after having tried all the things i can think of.

Heres the story:

A few days back my computer had a BSOD, it kinda just flashed on and then off, had no idea what it was about. Now for the past few months i have been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the highest settings no problem at all. But for the past few days, after the BSOD my game freezes like 20 or so minutes into gaming every time. The screen freezes, nothing you can do, no CTRL+DEL nothing, i ahve to restart it by holding in the power button. Also out of my headphones i get a continuous buzz. That is my problem. Here is some information to hopefully help you to help me sort this frustrating problem out.

My Specifications:
CPU : Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 @ 3GHz
GPU: ASUS Radeon EAH6850
Motherboard: Gigabyte G31M-S2L
RAM: 2GB Crucial + 2GB Corsair (Unfortunatley not matching sticks)
PSU: CiT 650W
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Extra Infomation:
Before i got freezes, i installed this program, AMD Overdrive, i had a look at it but didn't like it. I went to uninstall it however it would not work. As i got frustrated i went to program files and just deleted the files. I left it, it was after that coincidentally i got freezes, so i went back, re downloaded the program. Installed it then uninstalled it through control panel hoping to cleanly uninstall it. This however did not fix my problem.
I have checked all my temps and they all seem fine. On load my GPU is max end 60's sometimes hits 70. My CPU never gets hotter then 65.

Things i have tried, went back to play my game but still froze:
•Disabled Voice over IP in my BFBC2 game.
•Disabling all sound drivers.
•Disable sound driver in BIOS.
•Installed Windows XP on a partition, installed my game, played on tehir still froze.
•Ran Memtest for 12 hours
•Stress tested my GPU on Furmark, MSI Kombuster and some Heaven video kinda of thing.
•Stress tested my CPU with Intel Burn Test and prime95

Recap:
I think that is everything, if i have anything else i remember i will add it in.

So to recap, my computer just keeps freezes in game, loud continuous buzz out of headphones, have to retart PC by holding in power button.

I am sorry if this may be the incorrect section, if it is i am sorry and please move it to the correct section.

Overdrive is used to overclock a AMD cpu and board, so why your using it on a Intel PC? i dont know.

How old is the PSU?

stulid: I thought it was for my Graphics card, thats why i then uninstalled it.
The PSU is since April, it was pretty cheap.

Cleeecoo:
im not very good with computer sorry, i have a program called System Information for Windows. Here is a screenshot of some voltages, i hope it helps.

The ATI overdrive is already in the ATI driver, you click on the accept terms and conditions/risk bit and you get the two sliders for core and memory speeds.

The link won't work due to being a competitor, naming and linking to them its against forum rules.

The info he wants should be on the side of ther psu in a label arranged in boxes.

NP i edited them out after i realized they were filtered. I have added the amps chart in a previous post.

Before jumping in and replacing hardware it could possibly be some driver issues or corrupted files. The reason I think this is that it only started to occur after you fiddled with the overdrive settings and consiquently deleted files.

Re install the latest drivers for your graphics card and check that other drivers are up to date like sound on the mobo etc.

You could try do a disk check, and also get a decent registry cleaner like CCleaner or AdvancedSystemCare.

If it still crashes after that, you might try formatting and then finally resort to replacing hardware if the problem persists.

Good Luck!

timeout detection and recovery error, which is either

bad memory stick
unstable overclock of cpu, gpu, or memory
not enough power on 12V rail or psu that doesnt provide consistent power on 12V rail
faulty driver installation
overheating component.

guaranteed to be one of these.

Thanks for your reply, this is what i think.

-I am hoping it is not overheating as all my temps are stable.

-Bad memory stick, that is possible and i am trying to get a matching pair to switch out to try my game. So im trying this.

-Faulty driver, i cannot see it being this as i installed it on a new drive to test and i installed fresh drivers yet it still crashed.

-The overclocking idea, i have never really overclocked my hardware and atm they are at stock.

-The PSU idea, it seems like this could be it, they it is not supplying a consistent amount of power. Any idea on how i can find out if it is or not?

Set everything to stock speeds.

If no joy, then do a complete reinstall.

Then start looking at the hardware.
