Computer Freezing When Playing Games - Suggestions ?

Hi guys

Looking for some advice as to what is wrong with my pc. Temps are fine but when I play a game on it it randomly freezes the screen and I have to reboot. Not getting any bsod it just freezes so im thinking power supply or graphics card ?

Have you tested your memory?

fx6300 , r9 270 and 8 gig of ram. Nothing is overclocked and not had problems before.

yep .

removed them with different ones ? as memtest isnt always a reliable test ?

Removed drivers and re installed ?

what psu do you have?

make sure the fins on your cpu cooler are clear

surely this would cause thermal overload and the pc to shut off not freeze.

Have you enabled the BSOD to see what you get? If it's not enabled, you'll get this freezing/black screen & require a reboot.

BIOS update?

yep reinstalled all drivers still no joy , psu is corsair 750 watt.

Ran prime 95 for 3 hours also no problems , its just freezing in gaming.

yep my bsod is enabled , but its just freezing still . Would this mean its a graphics card issue do you think ?

Have you checked the BSOD with BSOD Viewer?

could it be a capacitor on the motherboard at its end of life? i mean one that works for normal day to day tasks but when pushed ie from gaming the capacitor fails?

I was always under the impression a freezing pc would be memory related, unless other weird things are happening as well.

Just an update guys - had a football stream running and decided to fire up mordor and the game froze when playing but the sound from my stream was still running so even though the screen froze my pc was still running. I was unable to alt tab out though and had to restart.

Money on it being the gpu ?

try this to read the bsod crash dumps might indicate what driver is causing the failure
