my HDD has also started clicking every so often (not every day) and yday by screen was flickering on and off for a few secconds.
please help

Have you tried using the onboard graphics to see if the GPU is at fault? How about malware? Download Panda antivirus on trial, it works really well to find these things!

got kasparsky itnernet and found no issues, why should i try onboard graphics?

was expecting more help :(

You often get this problem when there are GPU problems. Also, keep an eye on the CPU and RAM usage, see where it is when it freezes. (if you open task manager, you get a tray icon showing the CPU usage, so you dont have to have it open all the time)

Also, how many processes do you have running? Bump for solution

computer freezing due to my graphics card :S??

cpu and ram usage is allways average really when it crashes i am doign the littlest of tasks, right now typing thismessage i ahve 1% cpu usage.

2.6Gb or ram left to use at this moment in time (i have 4 gig ram)

when computer freezes i can't get task maanger open its comepletely none responsive :(

current cpu idle temps =

37
31
42
42

Q9550 at stock speeds / volts etc

Wow, got me! If you want to see the overall cpu usage when it freezes, open task manager, then minimize it. You will get a tray icon at the bottom with a small graph showing current CPU usage. So when it does freeze, look down there and it should be frozen at wherever it was when it froze.

Maybe someone else can help here?

@gundog, not able to see task manager when computer is frozen its 100% none responsive.......

psu = Coolermaster 700W modular

how do i check voltage stability on various lines? what are varios lines?

i was honestly expecting more help from this forrum :(

Use this software:

http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

The lines are the 3.3V,5V and 12V. If the lines deviate more than 5% from the indicated values when your CPU and/or GPU are under load then you have a problem.

I would also use Memtest to check if your RAM is the problem:

http://www.memtest.org/

I would also try Spybot and Ad-Aware to check for any spyware on your computer.

Not graphics related... doh
plenty of power
stable overclock

The only thing I picked up on earlier in your post was the hard drive clicking which is not a good sign. Suggest you run a HDD diagnostic program. Bad sectors might cause system freezes, but I'm not absolutely sure but it's a starting place at least :(

voltages hardly increased, no where near 5%

unable to see voltage for gpu with that program just shows temps

memmroy testo program won't open on windows 7 :S
