Computer fuse blew, twice now

Hey guys, I think my computer might not have a sufficient PSU, or something else is going on.

I have an intel i7 overlocked to 4GHz, and 2 GTX 480's, all of which are supported by a 750w PSU.

Now, earlier today I was running FurMark and the computer just turned itself off completely, no warnings no BSOD just OFF, and wouldnt turn back on. Last time this happened I had to replace to fuse in the power lead, this time I didnt have a spare fuse handy so I just replaced the lead itself and it turned back on.

Last time it happened was while I was gaming.

So I am obviously thinking it has something to do with the GTX's and the heat or power they are giving off.

Do you guys think it could be the PSU or something else? If I were to upgrade I would probably buy something good like an Enermax 1250w

I think a 600W PSU is recommended for just the one 480, so I would say your PSU is under-powered. You're lucky it was the fuse that blew and not the PSU itself.

What size fuse it in the power lead - I assume 13A? That should cover about 3kW. What's the make of the current PSU?
Nvidia state that the max power for each GPU is ~250W and the system PSU should be able to deliver 600W, like Mr F. says it sounds like you're on the limit for your current PSU but I'm surprised you blew the fuse in the cable if it's 13A.

EDIT - beaten by Sirius

It probably didn't actually blow the fuse, but tripped the PSU. To reset it often you need to unplug the PSU from the wall.

moar power needed captain!

upgrade that PSU as it is probably on the edge in normal usage, but stress those cards with some serious AA and ultra detail settings, I think will cause it to trip out again. Especially since you said gaming caused one of the trips, I'm pretty sure that's the issue. Not sure what furmark does with regards to the GPU, but if it loads them up also, then yeah, def the psu is too small.

It's a very, very highly detailed furry donut! :D
