Things are moving so fast with gaming computers these days, it makes you both wonder, and be excited for whats in store in the future. Its really like a constant 'Christmas as a kid' to me, new games, new hardware around every corner to look forward to (can't wait for Diablo3). Computer gaming to people like us is pretty much a way of life and its here to stay, its gaining the highground over movies and has some pretty serious money behind it.

Who would have thought it would explode as big as it has? And another thing, gaming really does have some great nostalgia attached to it. For instance, i've met a lot of really good friends through gaming. Although a lot of my life has been dedicated to gaming and spent sat behind a computer, i don't regret any of it. I'm fit, healthy, get out & about often. Lets face it. Who on earth wants to endure the current evening TV? Gaming is far more entertaining than TV, at least with gaming you get your noodle cooked slightly. Don't get me wrong though i like to watch the Dave channel and Harry hill's TV Blurps, but ultimately i'm happy as a pig in poo with a good game and a natter to some online friends :D

Where do you think gaming will go - both interface/visuals wise?

are you just looking at computer gaming or are you including consoles?

it appears that there is a huge number of "regular" people buy consoles mainly due to the wii i feel, which is attracting a new generation of young people who might not have played games (thinking mainly about girls tbh) so i think we will see a lot more games focused on those markets

games are also bigger budget than they have every been - just look at the casting and acting for RA3 there is almost talent there - so i think games are going to start to play like movies that we have small roles in a much bigger picture.

in terms of visuals i dont know how far they can go, i guess true realism is the next step.

Anything really, doesn't have to be PC's.. If it'll run a game its the same :p Your right about the wii tho, loads of people have em now. True realism will deffo come, probably sooner than we all think.. Anyone see that tiny £4k oraganic monitor on the tv the other week. Incredible definition. With the right video camera fed into it it would look like you were just looking through an empty picture frame.

Ray Tracing.

Interesting, with all this new suited motion capturing that can be done its a definate step forward. Its definately a tech that can be used in gaming

god, computer gaming in the future, where EA own everything including your toaster *shudder*

i completely agree with the OP about watching TV, people who call PC gamers sad, and then go watch Big Brother etc, really need to get thier head checked. It'll be nice to see what GPU's are on the market in another 10 years time. Where our generations children will have PC's running with CPU's measured in Thz, and integrated graphics cards that run crysis on ultra high.

Its my guess that in that kind of timescale a some very simple devices will be able to run 10 or more crysis exe's simultaniously. I wonder when it will move away from being a oblong/box. Maybe they will become intergrated into the walls of our homes. Maybe on a visual front it will go into 3d projection?

My mother watches Big Brother religeously. I think its an unbelievable waste of time. Saying that though, i built her a computer last year and she does use it a lot, more so now than then though.

I personally think that would be crap, I think people play games because their not real graphics and not real, if we wanted lifelike graphics we'd film someone and do some fancy computer mumbo jumbo to it, I think games like Far Cry 2, GTA IV, etc are good because their not real life graphics. and so on.

However in terms of the pc gaming future, it's a mystery, sure it has backing, and tech is advancing qall the time, but annoying little things like SecuROM (the DRM thing (in games like Crysis for example)) (I didn't even want to have my new gaming pc I'm gonna buy to be connected to the internet for a littlw while, but it has to be now to play the games I want to play)ff, that is what could put people off, and the annoyance of having to upgrade hardware and buy new pcs due to the graphics in games getting much better.

When I was a kid I played Space Invaders, Asteroids & a pinball machine called Eruption in a local Arcade. At night in bed I used to dream of how I wanted my gaming to be, It has gone way beyond my child like dreams.
As for going realism they already tried that & it's not what people want, Immersion Yes, Reality No.
For me the next step is just Directly jacking into your brain to Actually experience the emotions & feelings that are programmed into a game.
