Computer gets into BIOS but no boot!

Hi all,

I got some fantastic help on another thread and wondered if you could help here.

I build via youtube and am certainly not super clued up on things!

My windows is on my M2 drive which is showing under "storage" but i just cant get it to boot from it. I am sure I am doing something wrong.

All help appreciated!

Oh and when I boot up, it just goes straight into BIOS. No other previous loading screen. Thanks!

Set the bios to boot from Windows Boot Manager or something like that. That's what your boot partition is called.

You need to be in advanced mode. Hit f7, then click boot. Set boot option 1 to uefi hard disk. Then click UEFI hard disk drive bbs priorities. Set boot option 1 to Windows boot manager.

Mine is set to uefi hard disk first but I cant find "hard disk BBS priorities"

If you compare my screenshot in the original post to this from msi https://www.msi.com/support/technical_details/MB_Boot_Priority

I don't have that option at the bottom

Same board as me

Here are my settings. Go into the Settings section to check. Update your bios to the latest version.

Make sure AHCI is ON and not set to RAID

So... mine is set to CSM, but i can chage this to UEFI easily.

it IS in raid....but when i click it, it DOES NOT change to AHCI.

Sorry for caps, it makes me happier im explaining it properly as im not fantastic with this stuff! Shall i send updated photos?

Switch to AHCI first (if not on already) save changes then reboot and check the BBS priorities option again.

Hi - I can only make 15 posts per 24 hours...so ive made this account seen as your politely halfway through helping and will delete once done!

Not sure in that bios but disconect your ssd and put the m2 in slot 1 then try.

Despite the drives showing in "storage" they are not part of the boot list, only the usb drive I used for the bios update is.

So, i got fed up and i just formatted my secondary SSD (just got games on it, no big deal), re-installed windows on it and its booted up instantly, so there is clearly something wrong with how the drives are set up.

My NVME drive is the one with my actual OS and all my core data on it, is there anything i can do with that or should i just give up and format that aswell?

Ps - Now there is an OS on the 2ndary SSD, i go into folders of the NVME and read the files just fine!

I'd copy anything you need to the SSD. Power down and remove the SSD. Check your m. 2 is in the primary slot. Reboot, clear cmos. Enable uefi mode. Then boot from the windows installer usb and reinstall on your m.2 (delete all partitions).

You can secure erase any SSD attached to the motherboard in the bios. (Page 54 in the manual, secure erase+ its called) you select that the board will reboot & go into that mode, select the SSD you want erase & its does that in a few seconds. Reboot & the SSD is ready for installation of an OS such as Windows 10.
