computer help. post screen on startup

Hello. i built my computer several months ago and things have been fine. last night i didn't shut down my computer but just switch it off. this morning i turn on my computer and it asks to start in safe mode. this is ok. i try safe mode and it gets to the windows loading screen before a blue screen flashes up and it restarts. this happens with all versions of safe mode, when i start windows normally, and when i try using the previous known working settings. any ideas whats gone wrong/ how to get things working again?

i just did a chkdsk using my windows cd..i'll try now.. then maybe i'lll try some other stuff like

fixboot
fixmbr
??

the blue screen is really too fast to see what the error is . as soon as it appears it restarts

ok fixed it , chkdsk did the job nicely. i should really create partitions or get another hard drive. life would be easier
