Death Star or Mount Doom, it depends on the day.
I've tried 2 separate kettle leads and the same has happened on both. I have also tested other devices on the plug socket. The psu was a tagan 800bz of which i purchased in 07/08. The case is a Antec 900. I think there is a good chance it could just be both have had their day. Any ideas?

Power supply sounds like it's kaput. Same happened to me about a month ago.
It probably didn't trip upstairs cos it's already blown the fuse in the lead or the downstairs circuit is on a rcbo and more sensitive

Check the fuses are ok.

I had a broken psu which blew every fuse tested with it. But if it's doing that it's screwed unless you're nifty with finding and replacing the components in the psu which have failed.

The plugs sparked on both kettle leads I've tried. I'm pretty sure it's dead. Case and psu are getting on 10 years old. Time to replace both I think tar.
