Been in my computer fair bit of the day working fine went to get some food got back in my room it was off

Now can’t seem to get it to power up ?

Took power cable out left it off for a bit but still nothing .

Back of my board where inputs are the cmos and reset light is on . No lights on the board it’s self .

I’ve took the cable from power supply to mother board out but still nothing ?

Got a threadripper 2950x
Gigabyte x399 Aorus Xtreme

Please any ideas panicking as I need my computer for work

Thank you

Full spec, including make/model of PSU?

Also, have you had any other odd activity leading up to this?

Some quick initial tests before posting back:
  • Check all connections - unplug/reattach (leave HDD's unplugged from PSU and board for testing)
  • Do the same with components as above (not CPU) - connect just the one stick of memory/rotate if necessary
  • Clear CMOS and load optimised defaults (battery method would be preferable) - and assuming you know your BIOS settings/boot order etc...
  • If using an extension cable try mainlining it into the wall (i would try this first)

Hi Plec

Seasonic Prime Ultra Gold 1000W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply

Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Pulse 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Tried unplugging everything still no go.

Also tried another mains lead and to the wall nothing also .

I don’t seem to be getting any lighting to the cooler
Enermax LiqTech II TR4 360 RGB CPU Water Cooler - 360m at all which is making me think motherboard issue ( again first one I had in December seemed to die on me too )

I’ve clear Cmos too and removed battery still no go .

Thanks

Well, the quality of your components can't be called into question - although you're still at the mercy of sod's law.

Have you tried a skeleton setup inside of case - 1 stick, GPU, CPU and everything else disconnected other than 24 pin/CPU and shorting the power pins on the front panel header?

I’ve not tried a skeleton set up to be fair did last time and it didn’t make any difference . Just puzzled it’s been working fine all day then in 5 mins or so powered off . The fact cmos reset light and reset light is on the back of the input plate makes think the motherboard is shot again. Which let’s be honest if it is isn’t very good and the fact I don’t overclock or anything on it .

Tempted to go over to OC tomorrow not ideal but need this sorting and I’m left with little choice as I need my computer .

Could cry right now .

Thanks

Seems like sod's law has already paid a visit :/

Which header are you using(?) - can you use another and tell BIOS to ignore CPU fan speed to test?

Being dumb now what do you mean header ?
I'm being dumb - you can't access BIOS.

Was going to suggest:

The Enermax will be plugged into a pump and usually the CPU fan header on the motherboard. If you can try a different fan header but then disable CPU fan speed in the BIOS if the motherboard objected - i would also disconnect the RGB.

*There's always the skeleton setup outside of the case - but realise this ia a complete PITA.

You could test with the Enermax leads all unplugged - and the heatsink still attached it would cope with post/BIOS scrutiny (if it posted).

Hahaha yeah I can’t access the bios no power up at all .

At a loss to be honest why it’s happened ☹️

Could try above - but grasping at straws.

How did the last Enermax die - and was it on the same motherboard?

Was on same motherboard water pump wasn’t working . Still waiting for RMA on that but had to buy another one as needed the computer .

:/

If you've tried a skeleton setup and bridged PWR pins to jump start with no success - I'm afraid all my other suggestions involve stripping it down outside of the case, which i doubt you're eager to explore if a trip to OcUK is being considered.

Do you have a spare PSU?

Unfortunately, because of the issue, and the troubleshooting tried to date, all other suggestions are time consuming and ****ing annoying as hell to implement - i can understand your frustration given recent history.

For your help yeah I’m going OC tomorrow need to get it sorted going to set off gone 7ish to get over there near opening time .

No I don’t have a spare psu to test it with unfortunately.

Just hope I get it sorted tomorrow stress isn’t a good thing for me at the moment and this is stressing me ☹️
Thanks again

If they've got a free body when you arrive (i would phone ahead if you're not there as the doors open) it shouldn't take them very long to isolate the problem, once you've passed the unit over.

From the what you've described your data will be safe, and from description it could very well be the motherboard - so still under warranty and they have stock if you can't wait for replacement (although, an expensive compromise - but understandable if your job relies on it).

OcUK, may well forgo the the diagnostic charge if you end up buying a £400+ board :/

Best of luck with it @Matrix - hope it proves an easy fix, they're usually very good with issues like this, just hope it's a cheap solution...

*If it's linked to the Enermax somehow (seems unlikely) - perhaps consider the bequiet Dark Rock Pro TR4 or Noctua equivalent.
