My computer just froze whilst I was browsing the net, and it now wont POST.

I've checked everything over, reset the CMOS and tried individual sticks of RAM etc - but it is still refusing to POST.

It would appear to me that something has died, but I'll be gutted if it has, as it's all under 1 week old.

I'm thinking motherboard or processor? I'm leaving the clear CMOS jumper in position over night, with the battery out in a vein attempt that it will bring it back to life, but it's not looking hopeful.

System was as follows: e6300, Gigabyte 965 S3, Corsair PC6400.

Temperatures were ok, and there was nothing to give any hints something was amiss, as it's been running fine for the last week, no crashes or BSOD's etc.

Ideas?

What happens if you boot with no RAM? Do you get a beep to say "WTF, wheres the RAM?!"

If you do get a beep without ram, but don't get a beep with ram, then the RAM's probably died.

If you don't get a beep, maybe try disconnecting all the other bits and just have mobo, cpu, ram and case speaker plugged in.

You could even try mobo, cpu and case speaker (no ram) - then if there's no beep, it must be the mobo as I'm sure the CPU won't have died.

Let us know what happens

(btw I'm presuming the DS3 beeps when there's no ram as I know the DS4 beeps when there's no ram)
