need some advice guys. my computers been working fine untill about 30 mins ago when i was working on it and it just died on me. the monitor just went blank and when said no signal. then when i tried tio push reset button on motherboard it wouldnt work so had to hold power switch button in till it went off. since then its just been totaly dead. im thinking either power supply or motherboard but unsure where to start. is there any way to test the power supply without taking it out. ie forcing it to start etc. normally there is a small red light on in the motherboard even in standby but nowt now!!.

oh btw checked fuses cables etc.lol
they ok.

ah **** ive just done the paper clip test by bridging the green and black wires and the psu fans fire up.

so must be motherboard or the cpu i think. and since there aint no little red light on the motherboard im guessing that it. would the cpu fans and other fans fire if it was a dead cpu?

ok im trying to determin if its the mb or the cpu. since there is no light showing on, on the motherboard i can assume its getting no power or dead??????

have managed to get the psu going by crossing the wires so thats ok.

if it was a dead cpu would i get a power light on motherboard and would it fire up?

the cpu is a an athlon 64 3.5 socket 939 and im using a an msi k8n neo2
