Hi all, I am just looking for some advice to confirm my suspicions. I think my cpu is dying on me.
On Sunday i spent the day playing farcry2, and while playing my computer just shut off, no warning just went dead. It had done this a few times before but i was determined to figure out the cause for this. I installed my cpu monitor and realized my cpu temp was at 70. I have an Athlon 64 x2 4200+ running stock speeds with an akasa revo. For the past 2 years this has run faultless. Never over heating and never causing me problems. So i decided to resit the Hs and see if that fixed it. Booted up and it run at 35C for about 15 mins, rose to 40 and sat there for a while. Then for no reason it rocketed up to 80, i just hit to power switch and went to bed. Is it the cpu? or something im missing??

just got in from work now and turned the computer on to write this.. and keep a close eye on the temps....

i cleaned both hs and cpu. cleaned out the case and checked all the fans were working

I had a similar problem on my old x2, basically the NB fan died so it was scorching hot, wasnt the CPU at all. Check it out.. if your NB has a fan.
