Computer keeps going back to 4 bit color settings

Hi,

I've had this problem going on for ages... its an old packard bell pc and it had a new graphics card put in it.. now, every day it seems to, after a restart, go back to 4 bit display settings...

I can reinstall the driver and it works fine, but it keeps resetting back to 4 bit settings? I thought maybe it was a dodgy driver..

can anyone help?

How old is this PC?

yeah, 640 x 480 res and 4 bit color settings.

Its about 3-4 years... but like I said, recently had a different graphics card put in it.

4bit = 16 colours > 640×350 pixels, although i maybe wrong..

What card?

Have you tried running "Driver Cleaner" in safe mode between removing old drivers and installing new ones?

I can't say i've heard of driver cleaner, where is that located?

I can't find out the exact card, all I know at the moment is that its an ATI.

Driver Cleaner Pro, run it in safe mode after you uninstall your drivers.
