hi guys thought maybe someone can tell me whats wrong with my comp. recently i upgraded my motherboard my cpu and my ram and now everytime i try to render something in 3ds max my computer just crashes. i bought these parts thinking it would render at faster speeds but all it does now is crash. any advice would be much apreciated. some mates told me that my 430 *** psu couldnt handle my components so i bought a 750*** psu and that did Nothing then i was told to get a better cpu cooler and i bought the Ninja and that also done nothing. Please i really need to render my work by next week. I would send my work to my mate to get it rendered but i need to keep on changing the lighting in my work if the render doesnt come out good enough so it has to be rendered on my machine.

How does it crash exactly?

First thing to try is run Memtest on the RAM (Google it) as that is the most likely culprit.

It freezes the mouse doesnt move the keyboard doesnt work nothing have to hold down the shutdown button for it to switch off and start back up again

Forgive my ignorance - does 3DS actually use the 3D capabilities of your video card, or is it all software rendered? Freezing like that is often caused by video card overheat. I would make sure the video card's heatsink/fan isn't plugged up with dust. I would also maybe try some different drivers - just to rule out a software issue with the card. And obviously knock the card back to stock speeds if you're overclocking.
Then try Memtest on the RAM - even tho bad RAM usually causes blue screens or system resets, it's best to rule it out. Next, have you tried actually monitoring your CPU temperature? Did you use something like Arctic Silver with the Ninja - made sure you didn't use too much or too little? How about airflow in the case - you can have the best CPU cooler in the world, but if you have no airflow it won't work anything like its proper efficiency. And again, no overclocking, if you're doing so.

Those are the most likely problem areas in my experience. It could be something else of course.....but that would be my plan of action first. Good luck!

cheers curio. i will try all those things and yes 3ds max uses a hell of a lot of ram and to my expierience with 3ds max it uses your GPU to its max. (I have never overclocked my machine just too scared i suppose) and about the thermal compound with the ninja i didnt use arctic silver compound i used the Zalman ZM-STG1. oh yer and with the air flow could you go a bit more into detail with the airflow thing. sorry im new to this. dont know much just know how to model stuff and render it. computers usually never crash on me until now. Thanks a lot for the info if only my mates know half the things you know maybe i wouldnt be in this state.

just checked up on airflow. ok my computer is no way set up like that. i mean i just have some random fans that came with my case and thats about it. i found some setup guide on google and i can make my case look like that by tomorow.
