Hi there, A few months ago I put a new machine together:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (Overclocked to 2.7GHz)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Asus P5B Deluxe (Socket 775)
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit

HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 V2 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Gigabyte Triton 180 case.

All the other parts were moved over from my old build which is 2 hard drives, sound card and an Antec True Power 430W power supply.

The problem is whenever I plug in an external hard drive in to the USB sockets (front sockets or back sockets), the computer will just reboot. I put it down to a power problem (maybe i'm wrong).

The computer has also rebooted once or twice when playing games.

CPU and MB temperatures are fine.

Do you guys think that the Antec True Power 430W power supply is under powered or do you think it could be something else?

Thanks in advance.

Have you run Memtest on the RAM? The PSU is maybe borderline in terms of power rating for that spec - although Antec are usually pretty solid.....more so the older ones.

PSUs do deteriorate over time though and as you say it is borderline for that spec. Could try running on bare minimum possible, remove some memory and any hard drives that don't hold the OS, then try connecting the external drive again and see if the same happens.
