Hi all, I have a home built system with everything internal from Overclockers. It's my first build but has run without a fault since I built it (around 2 years ago).
Here are the specs:
mobo: gigabyte x58 UD3R
Ram: Patriot 1600mhz DDR3 6GB (3x2)
1 x intel SSD
2 x Samsung f3 1tb
Corsair HX 750W ATX
Corsair H70 Cpu cooler
Win 7 (64) pro
LG Bluray rw

Now I went to start it up and I get a second of power where the fans and mobo lights come on and then it shuts itself off. I've systematically disconnected everything and started to try and sort out where the problem is, but I'm now down to just the mobo and PSU. Any hints on what to do next?

I've had everything disconnected (one by one) until there is just the mobo and PSU and the result is the same. I press start button and for a second or two I have power to all case fans, video card fan, PSU fan and I get one orange and one green light on the mobo (next to the main power supply plug) and the "CLR CMOS" light on the rear reset button. Then the fans stop but the lights remain on.

bingo ... PSU hooked up as you said and I get a second or two with the PSU fan and the one case fan running and then it shuts off ... so it's the PSU then
