just made my first computer,

the problem is that i get no signal on my monitor, and there is no 'BEEP' from the mobo wen i switch it on. Ive tried things like swapping the grx card and unplugging everything and plugging it back in but no luck. i also tried switching it on with no memory installed, and did not even get an emergency 'BEEP'. there is also no led's lighting up on the mobo, only a quick red flash wen i turn it off...?

apart from that, all the fans switch on ok, incl the cpu cooler, the grx card fan etc.

...........any help would be much appreciated!!!

specs:

intel Core2quad 8200
nvidia 8500GT
PNY 2GB DDR2 RAM (PC6400)
Gigabyte EP31-DS3L
500GB Seagate HDD
Corsair 400WT
Sony DVD-RW
Antec 300 case

without grx and memory....

Have you got the 8pin CPU power connector plugged in to the mobo and the power plugged in the the GFX?

If you have try building it outside the case, something might be short circuiting, and not the cool "Johnny 5 is alive" type of short circuiting.

Yes, you have it connected up correctly.
Do you have onboard graphics or another GFX card that you can try?
Also, your sata cables want to be next to each other in #1 and #2, not #1 and #3 :)

Dauthi - the OP means "top left" of the physical motherboard, not the top left of the picture.

are you sure your PC has a speaker? :D

mine doesnt at the moment, need to dig out a tiny little one I have somewhere.

Are you sure you used the spacers? It's probabily just the picture being deceiving, but it looks like the mobo's touching the case by the power connector. When we say speaker we mean buzzer connected directly to the mobo, not the speaker socket at the back.

..thats the mobo there,... im really not sure if its got a speaker connected, could u help me identify it? ... ..and do u know why im still not getting a picture on my monitor?

@Matthew, aye a did use the spacers, the ones that u might see on the right side of the mobo i left unscrewed cos there were no holes in the case, but the mobo aint touching the case like.
