Computer not posting after fitting CPU cooler

Hey guys,

Just fitted a new CPU cooler (NH-U14S).

I took the stock cooler off, reapplied the thermal paste and fitted the new cooler.

Reconnected everything, re-seated my graphics card and connected the power.

After doing this when i plug int he computer and hit the power button, it gets stuck in like an endless booting loop. The fans power up, then slow down and restart again. The computer wont post, and it is not making any beeps.

Any ideas guys?

The mobo is :GIGABYTE GA Z87 HD3

Ok give those two a shot now, just taken the CMOS out and eased off the screws on the cooler.

None of that seems to have worked. Ive got the graphics card out and booting from onboard.

Just comes on, powers up the fans, then slows down and speeds up and is in like an endless booting cycle.

No board stayed in the case, getting the stock fan out was quite tricky though. I cant see any visible damage to the board, cpu or the seating for the cpu.

Doesn't seem to work, i have taken it off cleaned it multiple times.

Checked the CPU socket and cleaned that out.

Taken a look at the back plate that doesn't seem to be an issue. The back cover of my case has insulation too.

Not sure whats causing this? unless somehow i have damaged the socket for the CPU. I cant see how though i was so delicate with it lol.

When taking the stock cooler off the motherboard may have been stressed. Is that gg for the mobo if that is the case?

Everything was reconnected. The only cables i removed were the original stock cooler power cable and the graphics card cable.

Is it likely to be the motherboard or CPU socket then?

Unplug everything, take the board out, take the CPU out and start again

I cant see any scratches on the motherboard surface, i have been very delicate with it, other than the initial stage of getting the stock cooler off, which took a bit of doing. But it wasn't as though i was really stressing the motherboard, just being firm whilst getting the screws to release.

Sorry, yes i did do all of that. Really strange, i cant see any visible damage that may have been done to the motherboard.

Hey guys just to close the thread.

Thanks for your input, after closer inspection of the CPU socket pins, i noticed one was slightly bent. After i corrected it with a piece of small plastic and reseated everything it all booted up perfectly.

Turns out id probably been a bit careless when seating the CPU on one of my earlier attempts.
